Damaged

You left me damaged, broken & bruised
Damaged, now I’ve got nothing to lose,
Damaged, I won’t take it no more; it’s time to settle the score
You left me damaged.

Barbie dolls & Sindy, once meant everything to me
While you hide your secret well
Make sure nobody can see.
Pillar of community
A model of a man
Dragged back to your house by the police
Every single time I ran.
Who’d believe a child, especially one as bold as I?
Look into my eyes, see the pain, now tell me that I lie.
The walls at night fall asleep
Under your step, floorboards creek
The first time I tried to yell as you took me into your hell.

You left me damaged, broken & bruised
Damaged, now I’ve got nothing to lose,
Damaged, I won’t take it no more, it’s time to settle the score
You left me damaged.

With each year I got bigger
I’m no longer easy prey
You’re getting old and feeble, sorry now
But it’s time for me to have my say.
They preach about forgiveness
Let the past stay in the past
I’ll spell it out for you graphically
Every minute that you last.
Your body’s failed you now
And mine’s no longer yours to take.
Helpless, you cry out to me
To banish dreams you don’t want to see.
Life it goes full circle
The strong, they will in time get weak
Look into the mirror, not at me
If it’s forgiveness that you seek because…

You left me damaged, broken & bruised
Damaged, now I’ve got nothing to lose,
Damaged, I won’t take it no more, it’s time to settle the score
You left me damaged.
